Post graduate studies

I study bachelor in arts with mention in music theory so, if I were to do a postgraduate, I would focus in something related with music, like a master’s degree in musical interpretation or a master’s degree in arts with mention in musicology. I think the only reason why I might want to do a postgraduate is because I really like to study, and if I could, I would do it my entire life.
In my career we have the option of finish the bachelor and do the titling with mention in coral direction or like specialized teacher in general music theory, but, if we want to, we can only finish the bachelor and do some postgraduate immediately. I guess that if I were do a postgraduate I would like to do it here, at the University of Chile, or, if I lucky in these years, I would like to do it in Argentina, Brazil or in some country of Europe.
I hope to have piano (like a subject) in any postgraduate that I could do, or something related with neuronal bases when we play, create or listen to music.
Other areas that I like are psychology, physic, math and neuroscience, so, maybe I can link this areas with music, especially neuroscience or anything related to understanding the neural processes behind music.

My favorite movie

I chose “Inception” as my favorite movie, even though I’ve got many other movies I really like. It was directed by Christopher Nolan, the music was written by Hans Zimmer, and the cast is formed by Leonardo DiCaprio, Ellen Page, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and many others.
The argument of the film is based on the story of Dom Cobb, a professional “extractor” who works using special military technology to infiltrate people's minds in shared dreams, so he and his partners can get very important information. Dom is working on an almost impossible job: implant a thought in someone's head, and Saito, an important Japanese businessman, results being the one who arranges the mission himself to prove if that target is actually possible.

It's fascinating how the movie describes how the oneiric world works, and how the subconscious mind worries about the safety of our own thoughts, and I love how Nolan presents the dilemma of what is actually real and what is not.
One of my favorite dialogues of the film is when Dom says: “What is the most resilient parasite? Bacteria? A virus? An intestinal worm? An idea. Resilient... highly contagious. Once an idea has taken hold of the brain it's almost impossible to eradicate”. It describes perfectly the mission of the extractors, and it plays makes me believe that “inceptions” occur every day… Haven't you ever woken up with an idea that you felt came out of nowhere?

I would totally recommend “Inception” for anybody that is interested in the oneiric world, and also anybody that likes Nolan’s work. It's a movie that makes you think deep in the concept of “reality”, and its scenes full of action and drama would make any film lover be interested in what Nolan and his team want to transmit.

My future job

I study music theory, so I really don’t know very well what I would like to work on, but I like education area and everything that it’s related with play my instrument, like play in an orchestra, play like a soloist or play with people in any kind of musical ensemble. The truth is that I don’t want to work, but if I must do it now or anytime, I would really enjoy teaching.
Also, I think everyone would like to travel doing what they like, so I hope to be one of those people who achieve it. For example, I would really like to travel to another countries with cultures so different from mine that I can’t even understand anything of what they want to express even if they translate their ideas into my own language.
I guess you can already see that I don’t want to work in an office or in a closed space, unless I have to teach something (although I think that working as a music teacher is very different to another teaching areas).
Now, talking about the “ugly” part, I know that it’s more difficult to earn much money teaching music, but I don’t intend have kids or spend much money in unnecessary things.

Rick and Morty (blog 3)

Rick and Morty is an American adult animated science-fiction series created by Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon. It was released in 2013 and is still in production. Its plot tells us the stories of the inter-dimensional adventures of the main characters Rick and Morty.
The main character, Rick Sánchez, has a portal gun that enables him to travel across interstellar dimension. He is the “rickest” Rick, that means he is the smartest Rick across all dimensions. His grandson named Morty Sánchez goes with him in all his adventures.
Rick is the father of Beth who is married to Jerry Smith, together they had Morty and Summer. Beth had to marry Jerry because she got pregnant of summer, since then, Rick hates Jerry.
I started watching this series when I was still in school in a channel named ISat. The show has 3 seasons of 10 episodes each, but more seasons are coming since the show had great success.
I like a lot this series because I like cartoon shows, space and interdimensional stories, and also because each episode has a unique underline story.

Free topic: Animals

I love animals, so I will tell you about animals that I like, particularly, my cats. I have two cats; I like to say it this way because I don’t like the term pet. I think animals were not born to be pets and they are as important as us. When I say that I love animals means a lot of things, but specially that I respect them. I’m a vegetarian person because of it, I don’t like to eat living being and I don’t like at all the idea of killing them just because we want to eat meat, it never made sense to me.
I have two cats in my house named Tom and Nala, they are my babies and make me laugh a lot every day. The cats are so funny and interesting animals, they sleep a lot (approx. 15 hours by day) and spend much part of the day (when they are not sleeping) cleaning up themselves. Cats are hunters by nature (or at least that’s what my cats believe they are), so, when they see a fly or a moth in the house, they start chasing it until they catch it or the poor fly/moth flies away. To finish, I want to invite you to adopt a more conscience life and think in others living beings, because animals don’t deserve at all the life they are having. Changing the world, it’s in our hands.

A country that I would like to visit.

A country that I would like to visit is New Zealand because its a country really similar to Chile, it has a small population so people tend to be quite helpful and since both countries are geographically long, they have many places you can visit with different climates. Thanks to its size and closeness, in a  day you can go trough skiing in the mountains to swimming in beautiful lakes. New Zealand is also where The Hobbit was filmed, so that's another big reason to go visit, since you can take pictures with the props and the little houses made for the movie. The country's capital is Auckland and it's located in the northern island. Another reason why i would love to  go there is because New Zealand is considered one of the most quiet and peaceful places to live.
I think this is one of the most beautiful countries I would like to go but I have other places like Australia or Machu Picchu.

The best concert I've ever had

The best concert I’ve ever had was the ´"Swank Lake". It was a really good concert with music composed by Tchaikovsky and it was played by the National Symphonic Orchestra of Chile with excellent dancers. The ambient was great too and despite that I was alone, it was a wonderful experience. I don’t remember so much stuff about it, just the feeling and the ideas on my mind. I remember that I started to cry at the beginning when the “faun” started to dance and the orchestra started to play one of the most representative parts of the piece. The story unfold basically as a prince falls in love with a girl/swank struggling to be together. The oeuvre lasts between 2 and a half hours but I felt it was much shorter, the price was expensive though but I gave it to myself as my birthday gift. This was one of the best concerts I've had even if i went alone, since it's my favorite oeuvre and it was in general a really emotional experience and i will never forget about it.
